Buland Darwaza, also known as the 'Gate of Magnificence', is one of the largest gateways in the world . This loft gateway at Fatehpur Sikri was built by the great Mughal emperor, Akbar in 1601 . King Akbar built this stunning monument to celebrate his victory on Gujarat.

Buland Darwaza is also known as Victory Gate as it is a symbol of courage and power of the Emperor Akbar . The Victory Door is the entrance gate of the Jama Mazjid in Fatehpur . Although it was not in the part of construction of the Mazjid . It was later added by the king Akbar . It is the highest gate in the world and is an excellent example of Mughal Architecture.
Buland Darwaza is built with red and buff sandstones and is decorated with black and white marble . This gate is even higher than the courtyards of the mosque . Height of this gate is almost 54m . One can reach this gate by climbing 42 steps . Buland Darwaza is symmetric in structure and consists of the kiosks (also known as chhatris) at the top . It also includes stylizes buckler-battlement , minar-spires , decorated with black and white marble . This gate is a 15 storied high gateway and is the south entrance of the Fatehpur Sikri.
