 The Statue Of Unity of Gujarat ,  8th Wonder of World according to SCO , is an ode to the Indian Statesman , Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel . It is located on Narmada river in kevadiya Colony , facing the Sardar Sarovar Dham . He was the first home minister of India and was responsible for uniting 562 princely states to form  modern India . This statue is a colossal to him and is the World's tallest statue with a height of 600 feet  . It is a lifetime experience to visit , explore , feel and see the Statue of Unity .

This bronze  monument was inaugurated on 31st October by prime minister Narendra Modi  on the occasion of 143th birthday anniversary of , freedom fighter Vallabhbhai  Patel . He was a prominent leader in the Indian Independence movement and first Deputy Prime  Minister of Independent India . This statue is so made that it could withstand earthquake and high winds . 

 This statue was completed within 33 months . It was designed by the famous architect Ram V Sutra . And over 3,000 workers including 300 engineers were employed to construct this magnificent monument . The whole project took a spend of 3050 crore rupees . Materials like structural steel , reinforced steel , bronze , cement and concrete  were used to make it . According to scientists  this monument will turn green in around 100 years due to oxidation . Four lifts are fitted in the legs of this memorial . It can  carry 26 people to the top  in just 30 sec .

• Laser light and sound show 

A marvelous laser light and sound show is organised here , every evening . This show depicts the life history of Vallabhbhai Patel and his role in making of Independent India . This show uses the statue as a canvas and throw light over it . This show is a 30 minute show with mesmerising views . 

• Cactus Garden 

This is a botanical garden and includes 6 lakh  plants of 450 species . The purpose of creation of this garden was to provide an experience of dessert ecosystem in an aquatic surrounding . 

• Museum 

This museum includes pictures from the life of Vallabhbhai Patel . It also has a miniature replica of the main statue . Many people are seen clicking pictures with the exhibits . This museum too depicts the life history of the Iron Man of India , Vallabhbhai Patel .
