Agrasen ki Baoli , also known as Ugrasen ki Baoli is a historical monument and one of the ancient stepwells in Delhi , India . It is 60m long and 15m wide water reservoir . The place is famous for its heritage character, intricate structure and tranquil ambience . The old brick structure takes you back in the history and reminds you of the rich history Delhiites had have . This place becomes more prominent when you come to know that the place is haunted . Yes , it is believed that the place is haunted and is the center of paranormal activity in the capital city , Delhi .

Although there are no historical records to prove that who and when this Baoli was built . But it is believed that this Baoli was initially built during the time of Mahabharata by the king of Agrasen and later it was reconstructed and rebuilt in 14th century during Tughlaq reign .
This Baoli is constructed in a different manner as compared to the other baolis of Delhi . It consists of three stories and in the walls are three levels with arched corridors, which are adorned with niches . Today we can walk into these carved corridors . There are 108 stone paved steps in the baoli, and they lead down to an empty water reservoir . As you descend down into the Baoli you can feel the drop in temperature . Many people also fell dizzy while going down the steps .
This water reservoir must have played an important role in the life of people at that time . It is said that people used to descend down the steps of the baoli to reach subterranean wells and obtain water . Also it is believed that it was a community site for women to spend their time in summers .
Agrasen ki Baoli is a shrouded mysterious place . This Baoli is believed to be a haunted one . Yes , haunted . There are many stories which say that this place is haunted . One of them says that the reservoir was once filled with black water . This mysterious water used to hypnotize people and force them to jump into it . Few people says that they have felt someone following them . Moreover , the deep shadows , dark water , and echo of flapping pigeons , bats and owls creates a creepy atmosphere . Although these stories are hard to believe since the water level is just 5 feet .
Today this marvel is popular among foreign and local visitors . This site is now under the protection of Archaeological Survey of India .
