Udaisagar Lake is located at a distance of 13 km from the eastern end of Udaipur . This Lake is one of the most prominent and beautiful lake in Udaipur . The construction of this lake was initiated by the king Maharana Udai Singh . Thus , named after the great King Udai Singh . The lake extends upto a 4km length and is around 2.5km wide .

Udaisagar Lake is one more sparkling river of Udaipur . The history of the construction of this striking lake dates back to 1559 . Maharana Uday Singh constructed a dam on The Breach River to supply the sufficient water to the state . The result of this dam was the construction of the Udaisagar Lake . These days the water of this lake is used in zinc smelter which lies close to Debari .

In 1573 , Maharana Pratap Singh was invited by Kunwar Man Singh on the bank of Udaisagar Lake to discuss the surrendering terms to put before the Mughal Emperor Akbar . Although the discussion never happened . Maharana Pratap Singh refused to have any such meet . Moreover , he also insulted Man Singh . The incident resulted into the Battle of Haldighati .
According to another historical account , Maharaja Raj Singh defeated Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb's Army near Udaisagar Lake .
