Lotus Temple also known as Baha'i house of worship is located in the capital state , New Delhi . As the name suggests the Temple's structure resembles Lotus . The temple was constructed and inaugurated in 1986 . It is one of the seven last Baha'i temple and is one of the major attraction in New Delhi .

Lotus temple is basically a Baha'i house of worship , Mashriqu'l- Adhkár .The Temple was built by the architecture Furiburz Sabha . He choose the symbol lotus , since lotus is common symbol for Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Islam . Thus , the holy sight is built for uniting different religions and inculcate humanity . Lotus Temple is built in the shape of lotus . This lotus structure is spread across 26 acres . The complete structure is built with white marbles and is set around the lush green gardens . The structure is raised to a height of approx 140 feet . The temple comprises of 27 petals . These petals form rings and are clustered together in three groups . These groups covers the nine sides or nine entrance gates . Further , these marvellous marble petals form three rings . These rings are so designed that they together appear as a lotus . Here the innermost ring comprises of the praying hall with a capability of accomodating around 2500 devotees . This alluring structure is surrounded by nine pools and red sandstone pathways . These pools looks fascinating when lit up at night .
Lotus Temple attracts around 4.5 million tourists every year and has become one of the most visited site in the world . Moreover , Lotus Temple is being featured in many movies and shows and won many prizes for its spectacular structure .
