  Qutub Minar is the highest tower structure in India and is situated in New Delhi . The Minar was built in 13th century by Qutub-ud-din Aibak ,founder of Mamluk dynasty . Moreover , The magnificent structure is considered as the tallest brick Minar with an height of 72.5m .

Qutub Minar was built in the early 13th century by Qutub-ud-din Aibak of slave Dynasty . This Victory Tower is a five storyed structure and is one of the UNESCO World Heritage Site .The Qutab Minar is an excellent example of Mughal Architecture . The Minar is decorated with inscriptions from the  Holy book Quran . The first three storyes of the Tower is made up of red sandstone and other two are made of marble . These stories are decorated in different styles . The first story is designed with honey-comb structure , the second story is designed in round shapes and the third one has angular fluttering .The other two are decorated with balconies . It is considered as one of the ancient architectural marvel of India . 

 According to one of the legend , Qutub-ud-din Aibak was inspired by the Victory Tower of Ghazni in Afghanistan . So, he decided to build one . According to an account from history it is said that Qutub-ud-din Aibak , built the first story of the tower for the use of mu'azzin to give calls for the prayers . Later his successor , Iltutmish and Firoz Shah Tughlaq , completed the construction of the Victory Tower .

Qutub Minar also comprises different ancient structures . Few of them are listed below . 

Iron Pillar


  One of the most popular and most visited structure is the Iron Pillar. The Iron Pillar has a height of 7m . The most unique feature of this pillar is that this Iron pillar does not rust and is standing from the fourth century . The pillar has inscriptions in Sanskrit from Brahmi Script and stands as a Vishnudhvaja in the memory of king Chandra . 

Tomb of Iltutmish

The Tomb of Iltutmish was constructed in 1235 AD . The Tomb houses the cenotaph of Iltutmish . The tomb rests on a plain raised square chamber of red sandstone . The tomb is beautifully designed with motifs , geometrical shapes and carved inscriptions . 

Quwwat-ul-Islam Mosque

Quwwat-ul-Islam Mosque was built by Qutub-ud-din Aibak in 1198 AD . This mosque is believed to be the earliest construction built here . 

Alai Darwaza

The Alai Darwaza is the southern gate to the Quwwat-ul-Islam Mosque . The Darwaza is considered to be the first building comprising Islamic inscriptions and ornamentals . 

Alai Minar

Alai Minar was constructed by Ala-ud-in khalji . He wanted to construct this Minar of the twice the height of Qutub Minar . Although , he was able to construct only one story of the Minar
