Shanti Stupa in Leh-Ladakh is one of the Seven Stupas across the World . The Stupa is a religious spot for Buddhist and was built as a part of the Peace Pagoda Mission by Japanese Buddhist Bhikshu . The place is famous for comprising the relics of Buddha devoted by the 14th Dalai Lama .

According to the historical accounts , The idea behind the construction of the Shanti Stupa was came up by Nichidatsu Fuji . The Stupa was built jointly by the Japanese and Ladakhi Buddhists . The main purpose of the creation was to mark the completion of 2500 years of Buddhism . Furthermore , The Shanti Stupa was built as a part of the Peace Pagoda Mission by Japanese Buddhist Bhikshu . The magnificent structure aims to promote peace and tranquility all over the world .
Shanti Stupa's Architecture is way different from the traditional Buddhist architectures which makes the stupa more unique and special from all other Stupas . The Stupa can be reached by climbing 500 step . The Architecture of Shanti Stupa is a two-storied structure . The first level comprises an image of Lord Buddha and the Dharmachakra . Devotees come here and move this wheel wishing for their prosperity .
The second level of Shanti Stupa is fully dedicated to the significant incidents of Buddha's life . The carved walls of this level depicts the enlightenment and death of the lord . The Dome of the Stupa and railings symbolises the place where remaining of Lord Buddha were buried and the fences built across the place respectively . The complete structure is coloured in white and has a meditation hall where you can enjoy the tranquility and peace of the structure .
